PFAS in the Food Industry

Join Eurofins Senior Staff Scientist, Lukas Vaclavik, for a discussion about per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the food industry. PFAS have wide industrial applications and are components of everyday items like food packaging, cookware, and electronics. They are not often used in food production, however, their resistance to decomposition leads to accumulation in soils and water, ultimately leading to food contamination.

We will also discuss recent FDA reports of PFAS contamination in seafood and the ongoing discussions surrounding PFAS limits and regulations across food industries, including seafood, infant formula, and dairy products.

Appropriate testing and monitoring is key to preventing and eliminating PFAS contamination in your products. While testing is complex, validated methods are available for a variety of matrices and products.
