The production and distribution of foods, beverages, nutraceuticals, and related products can offer a wide variety of unique challenges at every stage of development and release. Off-odors and off-flavors, discolorations, and the presence of foreign materials are just some examples of unexpected issues that can arise causing unwanted delays in product release or negatively impact consumer perceptions of a product already on the market.

This webinar will cover various analytical strategies for troubleshooting these challenging problems, from project design and execution to data analysis, alongside real-world case studies to demonstrate the process in action. 

Meet the Presenters

Dr. Jamie Willems received her Ph.D. in food chemistry from the University of Saskatchewan and currently works as the Manager of Special Analysis at Eurofins SFA Laboratories in New Berlin, Wisconsin. She specializes in various gas and liquid chromatographic techniques (HPLC-PDA, HPLC-MS, HPAE-PAD, GC-FID, GC-MS) and has experience with custom method transfers, method development, suitability studies, method validation and flavor/fragrance analysis. During her free time, she can be found crocheting with her two nearly identical black cats.

Lily Zehfus received her M.Sc. in food science from the University of Saskatchewan and currently works as the Supervisor of Special Analysis at Eurofins SF Analytical Laboratories in New Berlin, WI. She specializes in developing and applying liquid and gas chromatography approaches (e.g. HPLC-UV/MS/ELSD/RI and GC-MS/FID/ECD) to solve problems such as contamination investigations, custom analyte method development, in addition to off odor/flavor analysis and foreign material investigations. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family along with her dogs, cat, and assorted aquatic pets.
