ON-DEMAND WEBINAR

Considerations for Chromatographic Method Development

Originally Recorded on August 12, 2025

Analytical testing in foods, feeds, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals and related products is critical to ensure a product’s purity/potency, safety, efficacy, and to meet regulatory requirements.

But what do you do if there are no commercially available tests that meet your needs?

There are many reasons why you may need to develop a new method such as bringing to market a novel new product/active ingredient, changes to your sample matrix or formulation (i.e., formulating as gummy instead of pill), changes to regulations that require lower detection limits or target different impurities, etc.

In this webinar, we will cover our approach to custom method development with a focus on chromatographic techniques, such as GC-FID, GC-MS(MS), HPLC, UPLC, and HPLC-MS(MS). From the initial steps of deciding on an approach, to actual lab development and method validation for routine or regulatory use will be explained using actual case studies and examples.

Jamie Willems, Ph.D.

Specialty Testing Manager
Eurofins SF Analytical

Dr. Jamie Willems received her Ph.D. in food chemistry from the University of Saskatchewan and currently works as the Manager of Special Analysis at Eurofins SFA Laboratories in New Berlin, Wisconsin. She specializes in various gas and liquid chromatographic techniques (HPLC-PDA, HPLC-MS, HPAE-PAD, GC-FID, GC-MS) and has experience with custom method transfers, method development, suitability studies, method validation and flavor/fragrance analysis. During her free time, she can be found crocheting with her two nearly identical black cats.

Supervisor of Special Analysis
Eurofins SF Analytical

Lily Zehfus received her M.Sc. in food science from the University of Saskatchewan and currently works as the Supervisor of Special Analysis at Eurofins SF Analytical Laboratories in New Berlin, WI. She specializes in developing and applying liquid and gas chromatography approaches (e.g. HPLC-UV/MS/ELSD/RI and GC-MS/FID/ECD) to solve problems such as contamination investigations, custom analyte method development, in addition to off odor/flavor analysis and foreign material investigations. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family along with her dogs, cat, and assorted aquatic pets.
