We are excited for Jason Mulligan, President of our Dietary Supplement Testing business, to join a panel of subject matter experts for the United Natural Products Alliance (UNPA) Educational Series. The 90-minute webinar on June 2 titled “What the Spec” – What Does It Mean in the Dietary Supplement World will help you understand how to write accurate and appropriate specifications in regard to raw material.  The presentation will include details for each of the required elements of an appropriate specification as defined by a regulator. Per 21 CFR Part 111.70, a specification must include identity, purity, strength, and composition, and limits for potential contaminants. 

Jason's presentation will focus on strength. Potency claims on dietary supplement labels can mislead consumers. In this overview of regulatory requirements for strength in dietary supplements, he will discuss essential and, sometimes overlooked, considerations for raw dietary ingredients. In addition, he will describe the implications of each ingredient classification and guide you on appropriate strength testing.
